Day 1: Arrival
Day 2: Walk to Loch Ness from our house, past Loch Bran.
Climb to a lookout point in the woods with sweeping views across Loch Ness.
Descend to Loch Ness where we linger on the shore and have a picnic lunch.
Passing the Foyers waterfalls, we continue to the Waterfall Cafe, where we refresh ourselves before heading home.
14 km and 450 meters hight gain
Day 3: Hike to the “Secret beach” in Nairn with its almost endless white sands and visit Clava Cairns, Neolithic stone circles.
14 km, no altitude hight gain
Day 4: Walk the South Loch Ness Trail from the Suidhe Viewpoint back to our house. Since we live right next to a hiking trail, it makes sense to walk a few kilometers along it. We will start the walk at the Suidhe Viewpoint and walk through our Strath with wonderful views of the Monadhliath Mountains and the Great Glen. We will take a break at the Whitebridge Hotel bar, giving you the chance to experience a traditional Scottish pub. Then we continue along the river until we finally return to our accommodation passing Loch Bran. 14 kilometers, less than 100 meters hight gain.
Day 5: free day, possibility to take the bus to explore Inverness.
Day 6: Walk from Carn an t-Suidhe past Loch Tarff to Fort Augustus. On this great hike we experience the Highlands in its purest form, as we hike through undeveloped, wild mountain landscapes, here we can really enjoy the wide views of the mountains, Loch Tarff and Loch Ness. 9 km less than 100 meters hight gain.
Day 7: 3 Loch Walk on the south side of Loch Ness, 12.5km, 193m hight gain. A wonderful walk through varied and tranquil landscapes, along Loch Duntelchaig, Loch a’Chachain and Loch Bunachton. We will also pass a historic cemetery. After the hike we will look at a rarely frequented stone circle.
